The Florida State Seminoles Men's Basketball Team represents the University of Florida in the field of basketball. Compared to the other teams, the Noles are in their infancy as far as basket ball is concerned. Still, the Florida State Seminole have taken a substantial lead, over many of the older teams in 20-win seasons, in NCAA Tournament games and individual milestones achieved by Florida State players. The Seminoles made their debut at the NCAA in 1968. Since then, the Noles have appeared in the Elite 8 and the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament and have also become regulars for the event.
The home to the Florida State Seminoles basketball team is the Donald. L Tucker Center. It is a multi-purpose arena with a seating capacity of 12,100 seats. It is located in Tallahassee, Florida. This venue was inaugurated in 1981, at an estimated cost of $33.8 million. Till 2004, this arena was known as the Tallahassee-Leon County Civic Center. Then in 2005, it was renamed to Donald. L Tucker Center as a tribute to Donald L. Tucker. Tucker was a former Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives and Special Ambassador for the United States to the Dominican Republic.
