The Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, located in Tallahassee, Florida, USA, is commonly known as Florida A&M or FAMU and the sports teams of Florida A&M are known as the Rattlers. The University is one of the eleven institutions in Florida's State University System.

The Rattlers football team belongs to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference that plays for the NCAA Division I-AA for football. Over the years they have managed to capture seven championships in their conference.
The Rattlers won the Black College National championship eight times from the years 1938 to 1961, out of which the credit for six times victory in the years- 1950, 1952, 1954, 1957, 1959 and 1961, goes to the then head coach, Jake Gaither. Under his able guidance, they were able to set up one of the best winning records of any college football coach.
Gaither's coaching continued for 25 years and during that time period, FAMU won 22 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships. When he retired in the year 1969, his FAMU teams had a 203-36-4 (wins-losses-ties) record, for a 0.844 winning percentage. Forty-two players from Gaither's teams went on to play in the National Football League.
The Bragg Memorial Stadium, located in Tallahassee, Florida, is the home field of the Florida A&M University Rattlers football team. It is a multi-purpose stadium with a seating capacity for 25,500 spectators.
