The Clemson Tigers are any team that represents Clemson University as a member of the NCAA's Division I or in the Atlantic Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Clemson Tigers field nineteen athletic teams and The South Carolina Gamecocks are their in-state athletic rivals. The two institutions compete against each other in many sports. Their athletics director is Terry Don Philips, the official uniform colors are orange and purple and their mascot is The Tiger.

They play their home basketball games at the 10,325 capacity Littlejohn Coliseum, which is located in Clemson, SC, and it is named for James C. Littlejohn, class of 1908, the school's first business manager. The Clemson Tigers basketball team is a college basketball program that competes in NCAA Division I and the Atlantic Coast Conference, and the team is currently coached by head coach Oliver Purnell, and Purnell has guided the Tigers to higher win totals each season that he has been the Tigers head coach. On March 16, 2008 they were defeated with 86-81 by the University of North Carolina in the 2008 Atlantic Coast Conference Championship game.
