The UCF Knights men's basketball team represents the University of Central Florida in NCAA Division I and competes in Conference USA. UCF plays its home games in the UCF Arena on the main campus in Orlando, Florida, and Kirk Speraw has been the head coach of the UCF Knights since 1993. Their official uniform colors are black and gold and their mascot is Knightro. UCF played its first intercollegiate basketball game before the team even had a nickname.

About The Central Florida Golden Knights
In the Division II era, under Torchy Clark, UCF found great success including a DII Final Four appearance. Since 1985 UCF has been a member of Division I and has advanced to the NCAA tournament 4 times in 1994, 1996, 2004 and 2005, all under coach Kirk Speraw. From 1992 until 2005 UCF competed in the Atlantic Sun Conference when all sports joined Conference USA, and made their debut in the Conference USA Championship Tournament in the 2006 season, falling to Houston in the second round and closing out the season with the program's first losing record (14-15) since 2000-2001.
They made a huge turnaround in the 2006-07 season, finishing 2nd in conference play to Memphis with an overall record of 22-9. On November 3, 2007 UCF's men's basketball team played its first exhibition game in the expanded UCF Arena, an 86-78 win over the Saint Leo Lions, and their first regular-season game in the expanded Arena was a 63-60 victory over Nevada on November 11. On December 28 they will host the UConn Huskies, and their first home C-USA game will be against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on January 11, 2008.
