The Campbell University Fighting Camels and Lady Camels are the nicknames of the school's 18 teams that compete at the Division I level of the NCAA. Their athletics director is Stan Williamson, the official uniform colors are orange and black, and their mascot is Gaylord the Camel. They play their home basketball games at the 947 capacity Carter Gymnasium, which is located in in Buies Creek, North Carolina, and opened in 1953.

About The Campbell Fighting Camels
The Campbell Fighting Camels Basketball team is the basketball team that represent the Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina, and the school's team currently competes in the Atlantic Sun Conference. The team's most recent appearance in the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament was in 1992. The Fighting Camels are currently coached by Robbie Laing. The Fighting Camels have only appeared in one NCAA Tournament. They lost their only NCAA tournament game, with 82-56, to eventual 1992 National Champion Duke.
Campbell's only conference championship at the Division I level occurred in 1992 when the Fighting Camels won the Big South Conference tournament held that year at the Civic Center of Anderson in Anderson, S.C.. This win placed Campbell in the 1992 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament and 1992 is still the school's only NCAA appearance. The 16th seeded Fighting Camels were defeated by the top-seeded Duke Blue Devils in Greensboro, N.C. with 82-56. They are currently constructing a new 3,000-seat multipurpose arena on campus that will replace Carter Gymnasium as the campus' primary arena for basketball and other indoor sports.
