About The Bowling Green Falcons
The Bowling Green Falcons football team has won ten conference championships. At the present time Gregg Brandon is the head coach of the team. Earlier he had served as an Assistant Coach for the now University of Florida Head Football Coach, Urban Meyer.
The Rockets of the University of Toledo are the principal rivals of the Falcons. Just just 20 miles on Interstate 75 separate these two schools and hence the rivalry is also known as the Battle of I-75. In the game of football, the two teams compete for the Peace-Pipe Trophy that is shaped like an American Indian peace pipe placed upon a wood tablet.
Doyt L. Perry Stadium, an arena in Bowling Green, Ohio, is the home field of the Bowling Green State University Falcons. It was named after Doyt L. Perry, a highly successful coach and athletic director at the school. It opened in the year 1966 and originally had a seating capacity of 30,599 spectators, but the recent renovations reduced it to 23,724 seats. However, for the year 2007 football season the stadium received an upgrade with luxury suites, offices, training facilities and new box offices.
