Dunleavy told reporters that he feels “great” about the roster and feels that the additions the team made over the summer suits his style of play beginning with the trade for Kerry Kittles. Minutes are still up for grabs and reserve roles are yet to be determined.

In the summer of 2003, the Clippers began building their current core with the hiring of Head Coach Mike Dunleavy and inking Forwards Corey Maggette and Elton Brand to long term deals. Their leadership, combined with the play of Draft picks such as Shaun Livingston and free agent signees like Bobby Simmons, have helped Los Angeles excite the STAPLES Center faithful while striving each season for a berth in post-season play.
One of the interesting camp battles has been for the backup center position behind Chris Kaman. The team signed free agents Zeljko Rebraca, Mikki Moore and Mamadou N’diaye to bolster a front court that already features Elton Brand, Chris Wilcox and Kaman in the post. While Wilcox will play the majority of minutes behind Brand and Kaman, the three reserve centers will be counted on for a contribution, especially on the defensive end.
“Right now it’s going to be by committee based on who we need and what matchups we are presented with,” said Dunleavy of the backup center situation. “When we get into exhibition games we might see that certain guys play against certain body types better or do certain things better than other guys.”
Dunleavy also likes the moves the team made in the backcourt by trading for Kittles, drafting Shaun Livingston and Lionel Chalmers and signing Quinton Ross.
“We’re deeper and we’re solid,” said Dunleavy of the 2004-05 roster. “We’ll be able to tell more in exhibition games especially to see if some of the younger guys are there or not.”
