Born from a desire by the National Basketball Association to make a push into the burgeoning Florida television market, the Orlando Magic came into existence in 1989. Playing in the league’s Eastern Conference and the Southeast Division, the Magic call Amway Arena home in the same city that plays host to the world-famous Magic Kingdom, taking their nickname from that amusement center. Over the course of their relatively short life, the Magic have managed two conference titles and four division titles, making it to the NBA Finals on two different occasions and have made the playoffs in 11 of their 20 years. Sales of Orlando Magic tickets were strong right out of the gate.

Joining the league as an expansion team, the Magic were one of four new teams to be given life by the NBA that year. The team was also the first major league professional sports franchise to put down stakes in the Orlando area. After selecting 12 players in the June, 1989 expansion draft (with Nick Anderson being the first player selected by the team), the team’s first tip-off occurred on November 4th of that same year, with fans buying enough Orlando Magic tickets to sell the arena out.
Being an expansion club, that first season was a learning process and the team felt happy to earn the wins that came their way, with players like Reggie Theus and Scott Skiles playing key roles in helping to keep sales of Orlando Magic tickets brisk. In the 1990 draft, the Magic proved it had a lot of smarts, going with Dennis Scott with the 4th pick of the first round. Both Skiles and Scott would go on to help the team improve by 11 wins over the previous season, with Skiles being named the league’s most improved player and Scott making the rookie All-NBA first team.
The next couple of seasons would prove challenging, as the Magic worked to come up with a consistent style of play. That would all change in the 1992 draft, where the team was able to secure eventual all-world center Shaquille O’Neal. It was probably the most immediately –successful pick in many seasons, considering that “Shaq,” as he came to be known, led the team to its first non-losing record, improving its wins totals by 20 games. For the first time, Orlando Magic tickets became must-have items.
Lighting proved that it could, indeed, strike twice when the Magic were able to secure the number one pick in the 1993 draft, despite having only one ball in the lottery machine’s basket. They eventually – through a series of maneuvers were able to move around such that they could pick eventual superstar Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway and three future first-round picks. With Shaq in the middle and Hardaway gunning from the outside, the team fought its way to its first 50-win season and their first playoff, in the process selling a ton of Orlando Magic tickets.
In 1995 – only the sixth season in the team’s history – they snatched 57 wins, giving them the best record in the Eastern Conference and an Atlantic Division title on the way to making their first Finals appearance, where the young and slightly starry-eyed team ran into the talented Houston Rockets, who swept them in four games, though fans were with them all the way, propelling Orland Magic tickets to a place of honor.
The regular season the following year would be even better, with the club winning an incredible 60 games which, second only to the eventual champion Chicago Bulls. Since then, Orlando Magic ticket sales have been outstanding in even the few down years the team has experienced. Coach Glenn “Doc” Rivers and superstar Tracy McGrady carried the team well for several of those years, with the Magic – under coach Stan Van Gundy and players like Jameer Nelson and superstar Dwight Howard – performing magnificently, making a return to the finals in 2009 after winning 59 regular season games, along the way selling many Orland Magic tickets.
