About The Boston Celtics

The 2008 Boston Celtics were a return to those glory days that included a run of nine straight finals series wins. The great teams were built on stars like Bob Cousy, Bill Russell, Larry Bird, Dennis Johnson, Robert Parrish, and Kevin McHale. The 2008 squad was built around Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen. Each star had their ability questioned and each was unhappy the season before on three separate teams. The three acted as a powerful lineup on the floor together though. The rest of the league feared them and they finished the regular season 66-16. Celtics playoff tickets took the team through two tough series before the stars found their rhythm and beat the Pistons and the Lakers in six games each.

The Boston Celtics are the favorites to take the NBA finals in the 2008-09 season. Garnett, Pierce, and Allen make up the bulk of the talent on the roster, last season in the playoffs a few players grew up. Rajon Rondo became a force with his penetration and ball distribution at point guard. Kendrick Perkins was the garbage man, picking lose rebounds around the rim and waiting for the ball to move through the offense before it found him for a monstrous dunk. The starting lineup is now perhaps more complete than last season and the line for Celtics playoff tickets could be even longer by the end of the regular season at TD Banknorth Garden.

The bench is a weak link if injuries were to wreak havoc on the starting lineup. The huge salary ate up by the big three only leaves room for the rookies and castoffs on the bench, but there is some potential lurking still. Eddie House is a spark plug for the offense, Leon Powe and Glen Davis are two big bodies that can fill in a few minutes each game, and Bill Walker is an athletic unknown. Celtics playoff tickets should still be available even if one of the starters goes down thanks to the weak condition of the Eastern Conference.
