Power forward Zach Randolph, who has come into his own after both the Blazers and Clippers gave him away so he could not be around Greg Oden or Blake Griffin, and center Marc Gasol are a great inside-out power forward combo, presenting matchup problems for most teams on most nights. Small forward Rudy Gay and shooting guard O.J. Mayo are excellent scorers on the perimeter, while Mike Conley is seemingly the perfect point guard to lead this starting lineup. Add the fact that shooting guard Sam Young (16.5 minutes, 7.8 points, 2.3 rebounds) has been very impressive off the bench, and you have one very young, very exciting, very surprising team!
It is Randolph who leads the team in scoring with 20.8 points a game, just ahead of Gay with 20.5. Randolph also leads the Grizzlies with 11.5 rebounds (4th in NBA) in addition to dishing out 2 assists, while Gay leads them in the steals column with 1.51, while also contributing 6.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per outing. This young and energetic team may just have the wherewithal to get things done in good enough fashion to make the playoffs come springtime. While other contenders may be running out of fuel and experiencing weakness in their legs, the youthful Memphis Grizzlies may just have more than enough left in the tank to make up the current two game differential and make a serious run at the postseason. Tickets for this young up-and-coming team are a necessity for anyone who enjoys being witness to a team growing up right before their very eyes.
With another new head coach running the team, Lionel Hollins, there may be a ray of sunshine peeking through. Memphis Grizzlies tickets will be easy to acquire. Even with the draft of Hasheem Thabeet and DeMarre Carroll, we can only hope that there is a miracle on the court. The team is still struggling to find its identity and to gain confidence. But with a little hope and the faith of their fans, the Memphis Grizzlies just might be able to pull off a trip to the post season.
