The Boston Celtics are old hat at this. They have advanced beyond the first round of the 2012 NBA playoffs and now headed into the second round to play the Philadelphia 76ers. Still, while fans have come to expect Boston Celtics tickets to be available for the second round at the TD Garden, basketball fans across the country are not quite sure to expect from the aging Celtic roster.

Rajon Rondo remains the lone figure of youth able to put up big numbers. Ray Allen has become the postseason’s best sixth man as Doc Rivers initially moved him out of the starting lineup, but as Avery Bradley has continued to come up short in the playoffs Allen has become the cure for the cold streak once Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett retreat to the bench. Since, the league is so very topsy-turvy this team, simply because of its experience, could end up in the NBA finals. At least, that is the mantra the fandom around Boston is touting.
The reality is that first the Celtics have to beat the 76ers. This should be an easy task though. Philly is relying on quick guards and an overachieving center. Boston is perfectly capable of stopping Lou Williams, Jrue Holiday, and Spencer Hawes with the collective of guards and Kevin Garnett trolling the rim.
Boston’s championship hopes are pinned to Rondo and Pierce. Rondo is still a triple-double machine. He has proven that he is more than just the fortunate position player thrown in with three legends. Rondo is creating shots for people despite the aging trio. These playoffs he is putting up 16 points, dishing out nearly 13 assists, and snatching 3.5 steals a game. Rondo is even jacking up a few three point shots a game this postseason. If only he could hit over 55 percent of free throw attempts. Pierce looks like his back is killing him and one of these days he will actually be crawling on the court on his way to the basket. Still, Pierce is scoring 20 points a game. His shooting percentages are not great, but he is a scorer and not a shooter.
The Boston Celtics will once again be strong contenders for the playoffs this 2009-2010 season with the help of Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce at the TD Banknorth Garden. Not only that, but the signing of Rasheed Wallace and possibly Grant Hill could push the bench further into the hot spot. Even with Garnett coming off a knee surgery and many of the roster being in the second half of their playing careers, Boston Celtics tickets are going to be THE hot ticket this year. With these great names gracing the bench, it is quite possible that the Boston Celtics could bring home their number 18 championship.
