The US Grand Prix is a motor race and is a part of the Formula One World Championship. It was formerly known as the American Grand Prize and is presently held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. About US Grand Prix
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway that hosts the event is located in Indiana and was inaugurated on August 12, 1909. It is a 4.19 km long track and has 13 turns. The speedway has a permanent seating capacity of around 257,325 people and also hosts some other racing events such as the IRL IndyCar Series, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and the FIM MotoGP.
The US Grand Prix is one of the most popular racing events and has a following all over the world. Louis Wagner won the inaugural event in the year 1908 when it was popularly known as the American Grand Prix. There have been many drivers who have been a part of this racing event and have created records. Some of the drivers who have been a regular at the US Grand Prix include Michael Schumacher, Mika Hakkinen, Ralf Schumacher, Kimi Raikkonen, Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton, Rubens Barrichello, Ayrton Senna, Keke Rosberg, Graham Hill, Jim Clark, Juan Pablo Montoyo, Alain Prost and many others. Michael Schumacher and Ayrton Senna are the most successful drivers at the racing event having won it five times each in the past. Ferrari leads the constructors and has been the champion 9 times in the past.
The US Grand Prix continues to draw a large number of people from all over America. It consists of 73 laps and covers a distance of around 306.02 km. Lewis Hamilton is the present champion of the event as he won it in the year 2007.
