NASCAR started the Tropicana 400 under its Sprint Cup championship in the year 2001. It was sponsored by the Tropicana Products for six years. The inaugural race was held on July 15, 2001. Its name has been changed to LifeLock.com 400 in the year 2007. It was a day time race, organized at the Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois. But, last year it has been announced that, the race would be a night race in 2008. With this, the Chicagoland Speedway will host the first night race in its history. The home for the LifeLock.com 400, the Chicagoland Speedway is situated several miles far from Joliet proper to the South. It was built between 1999 and 2000 and it hosted its inaugural events with NASCAR's Busch (now Nationwide Series) and Winston Cup (now Sprint Cup Series), ARCA RE/MAX Series and IRL IndyCar Series. The arena still hosts these series every year. The speedway is a 1.5 mile D-shaped oval track with a banking of 18 degrees in the turns and 11 degrees on the front. It features 267 laps in 400.5 miles. A total of 75, 000 spectators together can view the races. The speedway will feature its first LifeLock.com 400 night race on July 12, 2008.
There are five winners of the Tropicana 400 till 2007. Kevin Harvick and Tony Stewart are the only repeat winners. Kevin Harvick was the winner for its first two years. Tony Stewart won the championship in 2004 and 2007. Ryan Newman, Dale Barnhard, Jr. and Jeff Gordon being the other three winners of the championship in 2003, 2005 and 2006 respectively. The Tropicana 400 also featured female driver Shawna Robinson in its inaugural race in 2001.
