Each NASCAR season the Food City 500 rolls into Tennessee to provide a taste of racing action at one of the most popular sites on the Sprint Cup schedule, the Bristol Motor Speedway. About Food City 500
Having held a date on the NASCAR calendar since 1961, under one name or another, the Food City 500 is not only one of the top events of the season, but also one of the proudest ever to be held on the half-mile oval at the historic Bristol Motor Speedway. In 2007, a Food City 500 milestone was reached; the first ever NASCAR event in which the new Car of Tomorrow was raced, which ended with Kyle Busch taking the checkered flag behind the wheel of the NASCAR’s newest standard.
In the eighteen years since officially being recognized as the Food City 500 in 1992, this spectacular event has had four multi-race winners, accounting for thirteen of the eighteen victories during that time, and with three of those drivers having notched their wins in consecutive years. Leading this impressive list is Jeff Gordon with four consecutive wins between 1995 and 1998; followed by Kurt Busch with four wins (2002-04, 2006), Rusty Wallace with three wins (1993, 1999-2000), and Kyle Busch with two (2007, 2009).

The intent letter that Yates Racing and Petty Motorsports have signed tells us that they are willing to combine their operations in time for the 2010 season. The Richard Petty Motorsports banner will be home to the four car team that will be driving Fords this season.
