The Canadian Grand Prix is an automobile race being held in Canada since 1961 and has been a part of the Formula One World Championship since 1967. It was first staged at Mosport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario as a sports car event but later Formula One took over the race. In the year 1978, the Canadian Grand Prix moved to its present venue, the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. The track is located in Montreal in Quebec and is 4.361 km long. It consists of 15 turns and has been a host to other racing events like the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series and the NASCAR Nationwide Series race.

The Canadian Grand Prix has been an important racing event that has included some of the most famous drivers and sports cars of the Formula One event. The first winner at a Formula One event in Montreal was Gilles Villeneuve after whom the track has been named. Some of the other drivers who have competed at the event include Aryton Senna, Nelson Piquet, Alain Prost, Gerhard Berger, Jean Alesi, Jackie Stewart, Peter Revson, Alan Jones, Jacques Villeneuve, Michael Schumacher, Mika Hakkinen, Kimi Raikonen, Ralf Schumacher, Juan Pablo Montoyo, Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton and many others. Michael Schumacher is the most successful driver at the Canadian Grand Prix having won it 7 times while Ferrari has been the leading constructors in the event and they have won the title 11 times. Rubens Barrichello holds the record for the fastest lap at the event in the year 2004.
The Canadian Grand Prix consists of 70 laps that cover a distance of around 305.27 km. In the year 2005, the event was the most watched Formula One GP in the entire world. Lewis Hamilton won the race in the year 2007 and is thus the current champion.
