The Banquet 400 was a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race that was held at the Kansas Speedway. The racing event is now known as the Kansas 400. In the past, it had also been known by various other names such as the Protection One 400 (2001-2002) and the LifeLock 400 (2007). It is one of the ten races in the Chase for the Sprint Cup. The Kansas Speedway, where the racing event is held is located in Kansas City. The speedway is a 1.5-mile long tri-oval track with 15 degrees banking at the turns. The front straight has a 10.4 degrees banking while the back straight is banked at 5 degrees. The International Speedway Corporation owns this track that held its first race on June 2, 2001. The racetrack hosts a number of NASCAR events such as the Nationwide Series, Sprint Cup Series and the Craftsman Truck Series.

The past winners at the racing event include Jeff Gordon, Ryan Newman, Joe Nemechek, Mark Martin, Tony Stewart and Greg Biffle. Jeff Gordon holds the record for winning the Banquet 400 racing event at the Kansas Speedway the most number of times. He has been among the top five drivers a number of times. Jammie Johnson has held the maximum pole position in the Banquet 400 racing events. Some other drivers who have been a part of the racing event include Jeremy Mayfield, Kevin Harvick, Jeff Burton, Terry Labonte, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kyle Petty and Johnny Benson.
Since the inaugural race in the year 2001, the Banquet 400 has been one of the most watched racing events featuring famous drivers. The race consists of 267 laps that cover a distance of around 400.5 miles. In the year 2008, the Banquet 400 is supposed to be held on September 28 and will be known as the Kansas 400.
