The history of the Texas Rangers is not full of stories of championships from the ‘40s or multiple Hall of Fame players on the same roster, but the postseason history is a work in progress for a team that just began playing professional ball in 1961. Playoff tickets have just started to become a part of the franchises history and the team looks forward to the future when the team adds more series victories to its resume.

The Texas Rangers have captured just three division titles in its history with the team of All Stars that were assembled under manager Johnny Oates. The team first reached the postseason, making playoff tickets available for the first time for the Rangers, in 1996. The Rangers went 90-72 and were matched up against the New York Yankees. The Yankees quickly ended the playoffs with a 3 games to 1 win in the American League Division Series. Unfortunately the Rangers were never given much a chance, as they won the AL West twice more in 1998 and 1999 but were swept each time by the New York Yankees as they continued their domination of the latter half of the decade.
The Rangers in 2008 have a high powered offense that can simply decimate pitchers. Milton Bradley and Ian Kinsler have quick bats and Josh Hamilton provides the power and drives in runs in droves. That powerful offense is handy when the pitching staff does not deliver, which happens often. Neither Vicente Padilla nor Kevin Millwood has had a near Cy Young season, but they are the workhorses that the Rangers have used on the mound. For the Texas Rangers to make their playoff tickets last the offense has to keep rolling over pitchers.
