Seattle has had the pleasure of having the Mariners within its city limits for the past 30-odd years. In those years the team has had bad seasons and great seasons, and has provided the playoff tickets that make every baseball fan happy to weather the cool winds of October.

After the struggles by the franchise subsided in the ‘90s, the Mariners were able to load up on talent and become a perennial playoff contender in the American League West. The first time postseason tickets were available were in 1995 after Ken Griffey Jr., Randy Johnson, and the rest of the Mariners charged back from a 15.5 game deficit to overcome tie the Angels at the end of the season. Seattle adopted a refuse to lose attitude and beat the Angels in the one game playoff and the Yankees in the ALDS. Unfortunately the team ran out of steam in the ALCS against the Indians. The team would return to the ALCS again in 2000 and 2001, but lose to the New York Yankees in both seasons.
This current roster has plenty of talent to offer to make those playoff tickets worth the wait in line. Adrian Beltre and Raul Ibanez are the power hitters sitting behind Ichiro Suzuki in the lineup. Their job is simple, drive in the singles machine. Felix Hernandez’s development as a staff ace continues as he leads a host of young pitchers. Erik Bedard, Ryan Rowland-Smith, and Jarrod Wasburn give Seattle four potentially great playoff starters.
