The Angels were not always a team of such definite champions. The team struggled for years as an expansion team, finally able to make an appearance in the playoffs in 1979, 18 years after their inaugural season. The fans gobbled up tickets, but witnessed the Baltimore Orioles beat the team that relied on Nolan Ryan for its pitching and Don Baylor and impressive company to simply over power teams with offense.
The addition of Reggie Jackson in 1982 could not help the team over come the Milwaukee Brewers and the new blood of Wally Joyner and Chuck Finley could not quite get the Angels past the Boston Red Sox in 1986. It was not until a new century that Angels fans would again be able to buy tickets for the home team. That playoff team featured Troy Glaus and a tremendous pitching staff that led the Angels past the New York Yankees in the ALDS, past the Minnesota Twins in the ALCS, and then past the San Francisco Giants to win the World Series.
Their first World Series out of the way the team has been trying to get back ever since. Even with superstar Vladimir Guerrero the Angels have fallen to Boston in 2004 in the ALDS, to the Chicago White Sox in 2005 in the ALCS, and to the Red Sox again in 2007 in the ALDS. Playoff chances are not expected to stop for a while with the state of the AL West, so fans will get plenty more chances to purchase tickets to see their Angels play at Angel Stadium.
This year’s team ran away with the AL West title almost immediately despite slow starts by the pitchers and the batters. The pitching staff is on track now, as John Lackey, Joe Saunders, and company can go the distance on the mound or Francisco Rodriguez can come in and save the game automatically. Vladimir Guerrero, Garrett Anderson, and Torii Hunter picked up their hitting and the addition of Mark Teixeira make the offense dangerous enough to challenge any pitching staff. Playoff tickets should be worth it as the Angels have collected all the pieces to add a second World Series title.
Angel Stadium is going to be very crowded this fall, but the Ticket Specialists will be able to get any fan a seat for the postseason schedule. The inexpensive costs for playoff tickets is amazing, almost as amazing as the selection of seats the ticket broker has. A quick peak at the seating chart and the selection and any fan can tell they can get a great seat at a great price.
