Colorado Rockies

The Colorado Rockies, a major league baseball club playing in Denver, the Mile High City, is a relatively young team in terms of years spent playing in the major leagues, making its debut during the league’s 1993 expansion. The club’s nickname is derived from the mountains of the same name, which loom like a colossus over the city. Like many other new clubs in baseball history, the Rockies struggled during their inaugural season, though they won an expansion team record 67 games, mainly due to the strong bat and presence of all-star player Andres Galarraga. Over the years since, the club has experienced very high highs and more than several low lows. But its fan base has been loyal, for the most part, rewarding the club with excellent Colorado Rockies tickets sales. >> More alt

About The Colorado Rockies

From 1993, the seeds of a surprising 1995 – a year in which the club made the playoffs as a wild card entry, and on the backs of perennial All Stars Larry Walker (a free agent acquisition) and Galarraga and the arms of a host of outstanding pitchers – were planted. The corps of hitters – dubbed the “Blake Street Bombers” – also included a hard-hitting, slick fielding Dante Bichette, and the possibilities for years of playoff glory seemed assured. Colorado Rockies tickets were much sought-after, and sales remained strong.

The team was expected to challenge for it all in ’96, but key injuries prevented such an outcome, though the Rockies set a number of offensive records that season. 1997 proved to be an awesome year for Larry Walker, who stormed his way through the National League, taking the Most Valuable Player award and almost winning baseball’s coveted Triple Crown.

Additionally, his fielding prowess won him a Golden Glove for his efforts. With Galarraga’s departure to the Atlanta Braves in the offseason, however, the Rockies began to fall back, struggling to stay out of the basement in 1998 with a 77-win outcome, making it harder for fans to justify buying a pair of Colorado Rockies tickets on occasion.

This outcome led to the dismissal of Don Baylor, who’d been the sole manager in the team’s history to that point. Struggles continued during the tenure of Jim Leyland, though, who proved unable to improve the club’s record, leading the Rockies to a meager 72 win finish and a slight drop in the sales of Colorado Rockies tickets, though the team has always been a leader in attendance over the course of its life. A bright spot was the emergence of young power-hitter Todd Helton, who’d been drafted as a first-rounder in 1995. The club could hit the ball all day long, but the pitching staff continued to be a weak point, dooming the team to second-division finishes for some time.

Colorado managed to return to its winning ways in 2000, despite a number of changes in personnel. Helton continued to grow as a dominating ballplayer that year, though the team could scratch out only a fourth-place finish in the highly competitive NL West. Over the years since, Colorado Rockies tickets have continued to be prized, and the team rewarded its fans with a National League crown and a trip to the World Series in 2007, where the club fell to the mighty Red Sox. The NL title proved difficult to defend, and the team went on to finish a still-respectable third in the West in 2008, though it continued to sell tons of Colorado Rockies tickets. 2009 proved to be highly charged, with the club maintaining a strong hold on the NL’s wild card berth.
