About The Baltimore Orioles

The Baltimore Orioles (originally known as “the Browns”) won their very first American League (AL) pennant in 1944 during the World War II. Some critics felt that their win was nothing but a fluke because most of the major league stars were drafted into the army. Baltimore Orioles tickets are still very much sought after by fans who believe in the immense potential of this team.

In 1945, the team posted an 81-75 record and landed in 3rd place, they were six games out and with less than top-notch players. It would be a long time until their next win, but fans kept on buying Baltimore Orioles tickets because they strongly believed in the determination of this team.

The team moved from St. Louis to Baltimore in the 1950’s and also changed their name from The Browns to the Baltimore Orioles. It was not an uncommon practice for teams to change their names when they moved, and this team wanted a fresh new start. The change of name did not affect the sales of Baltimore Orioles tickets. The name might have changed but the fans did not stop believing.

The Birds were involved in a pennant race against the Yankees and the White Sox in 1964. They were defeated and ended up in third place with a 97-65 record. This gave the Baltimore Orioles ticket holding fans a little hope. But with the advantage of the team’s deep pool of talents and superior scouts, this franchise continued to make significant improvements at the Major League Level.

Before the commencement of the 1963 season, Luis Aparicio signed on to the team, effectively stabilizing their infield. In order to sign him on, however, the team needed to send three home-grown players to the White Sox. The Birds also scoured the minor leagues for selections in the Rule 5 draft – they signed Paul Blair from the Mets in 1962 and Moe Drabowsky from the Cardinals in 1965. These changes made Baltimore Orioles ticket holding fans look forward to another baseball season.

In 1966, the Baltimore Orioles won their very first American League championship, the team dominated the World series by out-duelling the Los Angeles Dodgers aces - Don Drysdale and Sandy Kofax. Robinson hit the only home run ball that was completely knocked out of the Memorial Stadium in 1996. The ball was pitched by Cleveland Indians pitcher Luis Tiant. Baltimore Orioles tickets have always been in pretty high demand because fans want to watch the Birds play the “Oriole way”.

This team won the American League pennant five times after wining it in 1966.
