The very first World Baseball Classic is to feature 16 teams. The tournament will be played in round-robin style. Cuba just became the last nation to confirm their participation. It recently accepted the invitation on state television. Round One of the tournament will be played from March 3 to March 11, 2006. Pool A games will be held at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo. Pool B games at Chase Field and Scottsdale Stadium in the Phoenix area. Pool C games at Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Pool D games will be held at Cracker Jack Stadium near Orlando, Florida. Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California, and Hiram Bithorn Stadium will is to host Round Two of the tournament to be played from March 13 to March 15. The semifinals which will be on March 18 and the finals on March 20. These two games will be played at PETCO Park in San Diego.
