Defending the Caveman is a hilarious yet thought provoking play, written by Rob Becker. The play is better described as a comical look at the famous gap between the sexes. The one obvious question, which has been asked, is what really makes men and women so different? Rob Becker takes the audience back to their primal roots to answer such questions. The ancient caveman was a hunter and all the time focused on his prey until he really lanced it with his sharp spear. The ancient cave woman was a humble gatherer; she happily gathered things that could be really used in her cave. Rob then shows the audience how the primal behavior of these ancient men and women relates to today's fast paced world. Chris Sullivan thoroughly plays the role of the bourgeoisies class “Caveman” to the tilt.

Sullivan has a very precise sense of timing and he really knows how to engage the eager audience while intelligently keeping them captivated. Basically, Defending the Caveman really explores what it means to be a so called man in a humble and normal middle class American society. Rob may be portrays the men as “assholes,” or he keenly believes women depict us in that light. Rob Becker smoothly explains in vivid details how men are real hunters and straightly focus on a single idea or specific task at a time. While, Women, conversely, are the sheer gathers who relish conversation, multitasking and safe togetherness. Men, according to Rob, bond by amazingly sharing some long periods of silence, and thoroughly punctuated by calling each other obscene names, while women bond by sheer gossiping, simple processing, and sharing emotional insights.
