X Factor started playing at Folks, a college club. The guitarist used to annoy his dad by playing his favorite tape incessantly. The bassist was heavily influenced by his dad's love for music. X Factor’s members grew up together. The group was influenced by music of the 1970s.

Even after getting the record deal X Factor were not sure if they would make it in the end. The band plays plenty of arenas, but would rather play in the smaller bars in which they began. submitted their single to X97.9 and a DJ took a liking to it. The band played for years atsmall festivals making almost no money.
X Factor accepted they had finally made it after the band’s first fan club was started by Patricia Isenhower in 1983. The club started out in Philadelphia with a handful of members, but grew tremendously once their singles started getting national air time.
The group is in the start of the promotional tour for their newest record. X Factor will take some time off after this next tour, allowing the group members to pursue other projects.
