The members of Wise Guys were friends in middle school. The guitarist used to listen to radio constantly as a teenager. Wise Guys started playing at the local dive bar Dock. The group begged the local radio station to play their first single.

Wise Guys was discovered after their single was heard on B91.1. Wise Guys signed the record deal, and fully expected that they would last past the first album.
Wise Guys knew that they could really have a career in music in 1989, when the group's first fan club was started by Shirley Tomaselli. The fan club started out small with just a handful of members, generally localized to the area around Miami, but the creation the group’s website by Angela Oswalt, along with the first real national marketing campaign, saw the membership to grow into the thousands.
Wise Guys plans to take some time off after this next tour, allowing the group members to rest. The band is in the middle of the tour accompanying for their newest release. Wise Guys's new album took one month to create.
