A member of The Toadies started dating a girl whose auntwas a record executive. She passed the single on to them and the band signed a record deal soon after. The groupplayed anywhere that would have them in the beginning. The Toadies signed the record deal, but were not expecting the next step to be any easier.
The Toadies realized that they had a real chance to become a headlining national act after Breanda Geanopulos started a fan club for the band in 1995. The fan club may have just started out with a few members that followed the band when the played in small clubs, but it quickly grew to thousands after the group released its first album and started touring nationally.
