The Oak Ridge Boys

The Oak Ridge Boys is one of the longest-running country music groups. The quartet started their musical journey as a gospel, gradually modernizing their style. After their initial efforts, the band moved into secular country-pop. The band has achieved the huge popularity in the '70s and '80s but their music and sound remained deeply rooted in their own traditional country gospel harmony. Their foundation was laid way back during Second World War. In 1945, lead singer Fowler decided to focus on pure gospel music. The band went through numerous personal shifts over the next few years. Eventually, in 1949, the entire group split from Fowler; at that point, he came out with another idea and hired a completely different group. “The Oak Ridge Boys” have toured numerous countries and they are always received by a huge crowd. Their live performances are always a treat to watch and their fans love to buy tickets to be there. >> More alt

About The The Oak Ridge Boys

The Oak Ridge Boys continued to raise their appeal by adapting their sizzling sound to the times. The band added few new members like singer Willie Wynn and bass singer Noel Fox. The band grew into one of the most popular and well received gospel acts in the late '60s, during their rising the band also bore some purist criticism over their so-called secular influences and increasingly long-haired funky image. In 1970, the band also won their first Grammy for "Talk about the Good Times." In 1973, they recorded their next single with Carter Family and Joe Bonsall called as "Praise the Lord and Pass the Soup," which earned them their first well accepted appearance on the famous country charts. The band went through some changes in the late '70s that led them to postpone some of their plans.

In '80s the band established themselves as country hit makers and gave some of the best hits of all times like "Trying to Love Two Women," "oom-pop-a-mow-mow," "Little Things," "Make My Life With You," "I Guess It Never Hurts to Hurt Sometimes," and "Everyday." In the latter half of the '80s, the band sales began to slow a bit but the band gave some electrifying chart-toppers like: "It Takes a Little Rain," "This Crazy Love," "No Matter How High," and "Gonna Take a Lot of River." During the '90s the group returned to traditional-style country gospel and continued to tour. This sensational band is performing live and they have a huge list of sizzling hits.
