The Eagles

The Eagles: History

The Eagles formed in 1971 after manager John Boylan got Glen Frey, Bernie Leadon, and Randy Meisner together fresh off a session musician for Linda Ronstadt. Don Henley was added to give the group a drummer. With the blessing and encouragement of Ronstadt, the band released a self-titled album in 1972. The album went double platinum and the Eagles became a venerable part of the music landscape of the 1970s. >> More alt

About The The Eagles

The Eagles' music packaged country-rock songs for the general audience, finding inspiration from groups like The Flying Burrito Brothers and the Byrds. The sound swept the nation with songs like “Best of My Love,” “One of These Nights,” and Heartache Tonight.”

The Eagles went on to produce six more studio albums in the decade despite a lineup that always seemed to be changing and a new musical approach that went from country to hard rock. The band included the likes of guitarist Don Felder, guitarist Joe Walsh, and bassist Timothy Schmidt while others left the band.

The Eagles ultimately disbanded in 1980, but reformed in 1994 with Frey, Felder, Walsh, Schmidt, and Henley. The group did not release any new albums, but frequently went on reunion tours.

The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 on the strength of albums like Desperado, On the Border, One of These Nights, Hotel California, and the Long Run. Each went platinum several times over, making them one of the most recognized bands of the ‘70s.

The reunion tours sparked the bickering that the Eagles had hoped to overcome since the original disbandment in 1979. Don Felder was fired in 2001, and he brought a wrongful termination suit against the band and some of its members. This sparked more very public arguments over money, tour dates, and personal projects.

This may be the last album the Eagles ever make, according to Don Henley in and interview on CNN, so get your tickets to see what could be the last tour for the Eagles at www.ticketspecialists.com.
