Taylor Swift was born on December 13, 1989 in Reading, Pennsylvania, to a household that was deeply into music. Swift who was inspired by her maternal grandmother, a professional opera singer, was into music right from an early age. At the young age of 10, Swift began to make public appearances; she started playing around her hometown, Wyomissing, and at various karaoke contests, festivals and fairs. When girls of her age were busy discussing their first crush and holidays, Swift started composing songs. Determined to make singing her career, Swift recorded a few demos and along with them went to Nashville to shop her CDs. She distributed her demo tapes at every label on Music Row. Her rendition of the national anthem at the U.S. Open tennis tournament endeared her to all the spectators present there. To give her more exposure, her family shifted to Hendersonville, Tennessee. While showcasing her talent at the Bluebird Café, she attracted the attention of Scott Borchetta. Realizing her potential Borchetta, signed her to his newly- established record label, Big Machine Records. In 2006, her debut single ‘Tim McGraw’ was released. The single became a big hit and got considerable amount of airplay on the radios. Towards the end of the year her maiden Eponymous album ‘Taylor Swift’ was released. The album was well accepted both by her fans as well as the critics. Swift herself has composed most of the songs from the album. The album that spawned three top ten singles debuted at #19 on the Billboard 200 and sold over 61,000 albums during its first week. In 2007, the album reached at #1 at Billboard Top Country Albums and #8 at Billboard 200. She has opened for artists like Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, George Strait and Rascal Flatts.
