An Indie Rock Band, “Tapes 'n Tapes” was formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota in the year 2003. The band has four members in its rank. They are: Josh Grier (Tapes 1) for guitar and vocals, Jeremy Hanson (Tapes 2) for drums, Matt Kretzman ('n) on keyboards and multi-instruments and Erik Applewick ('n) on the bass guitar. However, Shawn Neary was on the drums earlier but later Erik Appelwick replaced him in April 2006. In the year 2005, the drummer Jeremy Hanson replaced Karl Schweitz.

The band has till now released three albums. “Tapes 'n Tapes” EP was the first self-released album of the group in the year 2004. Thereafter the band released “The Loon” on Ibid Records on July 25, 2006.
The same album was once again released under the label XL Recordings. The band signed this label on July 25, 2006. In the following year, the band finished another album “Walk It Off” and it was released on April 8, 2008. The same was recorded under the production of David Fridmann in Cassadaga, New York.
The band became famous after their write-ups on music blogs, on EAR FARM and sites like Music For Robots and Gorilla vs. Bear. The band also played with The Futureheads, The Streets, Metric, Calivin Johnson and I Am the World Trade Center, after releasing its self-titled EP. The band performed the song “Insistor” on July 25th, 2006 on the Late Show With David Letterman. This was the American television debut of the band.
Tapes 'n Tapes played six songs, “Demon Apple, “Blunt”, “Icebergs”, “Headshock”, “Le Ruse” and “Hang Them All.” in the year 2007 at the Lollapalooza Festival.

The debut album of the Tapes 'n Tapes, “The Loon” was released on October 28, 2005 in the United States and on July 24, 2006 in the United Kingdom. The album was recorded under the label Ibid Records in the US and the same was recorded under the label XL Recordings in the UK. It was produced by Erik Appelwick and recorded in June 2005 at the Short Man Studios, Minneapolis, Minnesota. The album consists of various songs including: Just Drums, The Illiad, Insistor, Crazy
The second album of the band, “Walk It Off” was recorded in Tarbox Road Studios in New York. The same was released on April 2, 2008 under the label XL Recordings and was produced by Dave Fridmann. The track consists of many songs including: “Le Ruse”, “Time Of Songs”, “Headshock”, “Conquest”, “Say Back Something”, “Demon Apple”, “Blunt”, “George Michael”, “Anvil”, “Lines” and “The Dirty Dirty.”
