Take That are a popular British pop boy band that was started by Nigel Martin Smith in Manchester in 1990. The quintet’s dance-oriented pop tunes and soulful ballads ruled the UK charts and airwaves in the first half of the 1990s. The band was riding a wave of success but they split in 1996. To the delight of many, the band reunited as a quartet in 2006 and hit the road in the same year. The tour was a huge success; wherever the band performed, screaming and enthusiastic crowds greeted them. The band is scheduled to host ITV’s countdown to 2008 live from London's O2 Arena.

The band came into the limelight with their cover version of the 1970s Tavares hit ‘It Only Takes a Minute’. The single with a high tempo beat peaked at #7 on the UK charts. ‘I Found Heaven’ and ‘A Million Love Songs’ followed the single. The two singles too became a hit and reached the top 20 hits. The band’s cover of Barry Manilow and Donna Summer disco hit ‘Could It Be Magic’ catapulted the band to an altogether different height. The band’s debut album ‘Take That and Party’ released in 1992 had all the hit singles which were a blend of covers and Barlow ballads. A year later the band came out with their original album ‘Everything Changes’ which gave hits like Pray, Relight My Fire, Babe, the title track Everything Changes and Love Ain't Here Anymore.
In 1995, the band came out with yet another album ‘Nobody Else’ which spawned hits like Sure, Back for Good and Never Forget. The band was riding a wave of success however all was not well between the members. Robbie quit the band and the rest of the members continued to promote the album. In 1996, the band announced that they were disbanding after which it released the album ‘Greatest Hits’. After the break up, all the members embarked on their respective solo careers.
After nearly a decade on November 14, 2005, a new collection of the band’s hit singles, along with a new earlier unreleased song was released. The group came together on November 16, 2005, for the ITV documentary Take That: For the Record. The band then announced that it would be soon embarking on a tour sans Robbie Williams. The ensuing tour ‘The Ultimate Tour 2006’ became a big success. The band’s popularity had not decreased even an iota and soon Polydor Records signed them. The band released their album ‘Beautiful World’ which sold more than 1.5 million copies in the U.K. The band’s come back album became a big hit.
