About Rilo Kiley

Three years after it came into existence, the band made available to the public Take Offs and Landin. Rilo Kiley is a Los Angeles -centered indie-rock outfit led by previous child actors Jenny Lewis (Troop Beverly hills,The Wizard) and Blake Sennett (Salute Your Shorts, Boy meets World). They have made available to the public three albums, each of which merges country, folk, and pop sensitiveness.

The band initially entered into a contract with Barsurk Records, an independent label, for their opening full-length album, Take-Offs & Landings, in 2001. Rilo Kiley then entered into agreement with Omaha's saddle creek Records and released The Execution of All Things in2002. In 2004, they released More Adventurous on their personal impression, Brute/ Beaute Records.

They have sold approximately 75,000 records in three years and journeyed to the United States quite often. Lewis performs lead vocals and enjoys composing credits with guitarist Sennett. The band also includes Pierre De Reeder on bass and Jason Boesel on drums.

2004 marked the rise in admiration for the band, as Sennett and Boesel released an album with their outfit The Elected and Lewis sang backup on Ben Gibbard’s indie electronic Death Cab For Cutie side project the Postal Service. Lewis traveled with The Postal Service before embarking on two trips in aid of Rilo Kiley's More Adventurous in the summer and fall of 2004. The album remained during late 2004 high on Billboard Magazine’s Heatseekers Chart, reward only enhanced by appearances on the Late Night with Conan O’Brien and Jimmy Kimmel Live. The outfit opened for Bright Eyes on the global leg of Conor Oberst’s trip for 2005's I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning.

In May of 2005, Jenny Lewis revealed in an interview that Rilo Kiley had entered into a contract with Warner Bros and that the label was getting ready to re-release More Adventurous.
Jenny Lewis made public her initial solo album in January of 2006, with Leigh and Chandra Watson (aka The Watson Twins). The album is labeled Rrabbit Fur Coat and was co-produced by M. Ward and Mike Mogis. There are a number of speculations, but no certain answer. Pierre and Jason both stress that "Rilo Kiley" has no actual significance. Some have asserted that the name is a turnaround of the common Irish name Kyle O'Riley. Ex drummer Dave Rock once maintained during a radio interview that Rilo Kiley was the name of a pair of Siamese look-alike pairs from the early 20th century and that they selected it as the name since the outfit members were intimate. Sadly, he deserted the band not long after.
