Texan Rhett Miller is a Dallas based singer/songwriter. This music genius is best known as the front man and main force behind the alt-country band which was quite famous in the Old 97's. This band was formed in 1993 and issued their maiden LP, “Wreck Your Life” in 1995. This was followed by their next release, “Fight Songs,” in 1999. In the very same year the group went on to re-release the early-1994 recorded album “Hitchhike to Rhome.” In 2001, the band issued their new compilation of songs, "Satellite Rides," which brought back the memories of The Old 97s.

The group have always been the favorite of the critics and media as they were widely praised by critics and also received extensive airplay on popular college radio stations all over the America.Though, this is just a one part of this great personality as he is known for something else. Rhett has proved himself as a very good solo performer too. Rhett issued his maiden solo album, “Mythologies,” in 1989. This release was produced by future Old 97's famous bassist and songwriter Murray Hammond. Well, this record was a compilation of some soothing acoustic folk songs. Hammond and Miller have also performed together many times as the Ranchero Brothers. Actually, this outfit was a guinea pig for testing and creating new music for the Old 97's.
They had not big plans in the beginning but as the destiny favored them and The Ranchero Brothers earned their own cult following. The Ranchero Brothers recorded their own album in May, 2000. With this new project in hand Miller started working on this in February, 2002. This time his album was produced by famous producer/multi-instrumentalist Jon Brion. Miller's release “The Instigator” was released seven months later. The soothing music and well written songs were applauded by the famous music critics and they appreciated Miller's passionate style. This was followed by another successful release “The Instigato" and then he embarked on a tour in 2003.
