Ray Parker Jr. plans to spend some time apart after this next tour, allowing the group members to pursue other projects. The group is in the beginning of the tour promoting for their newest project. Ray Parker Jr.'s newest record is the group's sixth album.

Ray Parker Jr. always wanted to hear themselves at the top of the charts and they got their wish with the release of their first single. The band is constantly touring now, rarely taking a week or night off. Ray Parker Jr. talked to a local DJ from K91.1 and got their single on air. The girlfriend of a record executive heard the song and soon after Ray Parker Jr. was signed. The band played for years atcollege parties making almost no money.

Ray Parker Jr. realized that they had a real chance to become a headlining national act when the group’s first fan club was started in 1993 by Jenny Gitlewski. The fan club grew from a few dozen to a few thousand after Lizzie Quinn created a website for the group and a national tour gave the group plenty of exposure.

Ray Parker Jr. will mix songs from the new project with hits from its past record. The band loves playing in Houston because they have never failed to sell out a how in the city.
