Quicksand began playing at the college club Guru. The lead singer use to listen to records constantly as a child. The guitarist was influenced by his mom's love of music. Quicksand’s members grew up together. Music of the 1950s heavily influenced the early work of the band.

Quicksand were still a little worried after they released their debut recording, but were relieved when the release began to get some radio play. The group's members had horrible jobs when they started playing, just biding time until they would hit the big time.
