Pink Martini is taking the orchestra to main stream America. Band founder Thomas M. Lauderdale is a classically trained pianist who graduated from Harvard. He met the bands vocalist also at Harvard and her name is China Forbes. The group started with 4 musicians and has grown to12, which sometimes makes it difficult to find a venue big enough for them to play. Pink Martini started out playing their unique style of music at political functions in the Portland area, which is where they are from. The music is an interesting mix of classical, jazz, and lounge music that also includes a Latin flair. The band members have all studied different languages and music from all over the world and this combination of interests is what gives the band their interesting sound. The group is an international success having toured not only in the US but Europe, Canada, Asia, Greece, Lebanon and Turkey.

About Pink Martini
The group as already released 3 albums, the first one, “Sympathique” has sold over 1.3 millions copies worldwide. Their second album was released in 2004 and is titled “Hang on Little Tomato” and in 2007 the band released album number three titled, “Hey Eugene”. IT sold almost 19,000 copies it’s first week out. All three albums were released under their own recording label, Heinz Records.
Pink Martini songs are becoming very popular on the silver screen and small screen. Their songs have been featured in many movies and TV shows such as “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”, “Nurse Betty”, “The West Wing” and The Sopranos”. Their song “No Hay Problema” has become the background music for several of the Microsoft Windows programs as well.
Pink Martini is currently touring in the US and Canada and you can catch them performing at the Royal Theatre – BC in Victoria, Jack Singer Concert Hall in Calgary, and this winter in Seattle at Benaroya Hall, as well as in Fort Worth, Texas at Bass Performance Hall.
