The period of 1950's is dedicated to Paul Simon who has contributed a lot in the music industry. At the time he was in school, he met Art Garfunkel with whom he decided to move forward in the field of music. The duo called themselves as Tom and Jerry, the name which they took from the television cartoon characters. Simon was the native of Queens and was inclined towards music right from the beginning. His musical aspirations began to fulfill when the duo released a hit single titled “Hey School” which came up in the year of 1957-1958. Surprisingly, both of them were just 16 years old during this time. Other hit singles such as “Motorcycle,” which was released in 1963, followed by “The Lone Teen Ranger” which was released under the name of Jerry Landis. Signing a record deal with the Columbia Records was yet another occasion which made him the star of the music industry.

About Paul Simon

It was after this time that he signed a contract with CBS[UK] under which he released a hit album titled “Great Britain” which was released in the year of 1965. This particular album was his first solo album which increased his popularity all the more.
“Bridge Over Trouble Water” was released in the year of 1970, along with Art Garfunkel. This was the last album he recorded with Art Garfunkel, after which Paul separated from him.
