The members of Paloma San Basilio met in college. The bassist used to fall asleep with the radioplaying as a teenager. The drummer use to listen to CDs constantly as a child. Paloma San Basilio began playing at the local dive bar Evasion. Ozzy Osborne heavily influenced the early work of the band.

Often times, critics have praised Paloma San Basilio for their playfulness with the audience when they perform live. A music critic from Philadelphia, Frank Kostner, has always commented on band’s great stage presence. Paloma San Basilio’s most current release has received superb praise from Raymond Abbey, a music critic out of Philadelphia, and Ed Hart, from Jacksonville.

Paloma San Basilio realized that they were truly working musicians when the band’s first fan club was started in 1991 by Rebecca Krishnamurthy. The fan club started out small with just a handful of members, generally localized to the area around Charleston, but the creation the group’s website by Barbara Phillippe, along with the first real national marketing campaign, saw the membership to grow into the thousands.
