Pacifika began playing together while they were in middle school. The drummer used to listen to radio constantly as a kid. Pacifika started playing at Anyplace, a college club. The group was influenced by Bobby Darin.

Generally, critics commend Pacifika for their ability to rile up the audience at concerts. A music critic from Jacksonville, Russ Ernhart, has always mentioned band’s guitarist. After paying their dues and opening shows for years, Pacifika was signed to a record deal. The band members were glad that all the college parties they had played had paid off. The band plays plenty of arenas, but would rather play in the smaller clubs in which they began.
Pacifika knew they made it in 1998, after the group's first fan club was started by Helen Cotroneo. The fan club grew quickly from a few dozen members in a few cities to a few thousand from California to New York.
