The members of Over The Rhine grew up together. The bassist used to fall asleep with a recordplaying as a teenager. The guitarist wanted to start a group since he was in college. Over The Rhine started singing at City, a college bar. The group kept requesting that the local radio station to play their songs.

Over The Rhine met with a local DJ from B95.5 and convinced him to play their single on air. The single immediately became a local hit and larger radio stations started playing the song. Eventually a record executive heard it and signed the band. The group members were glad once they were signed and quit their odd jobs that had supported them while they worked toward their dreams. After the single hit the airwaves and became incredibly popular, Over The Rhine knew they’d made it big and were not willing to be just another one hit wonder.
After this past non-stop year the members of Over The Rhine will take a break to recharge. The band may have just completed their latest release, but they are already plotting the next move. The new release from Over The Rhine has taken the group in a incredibly different direction, with a less refined sound.
Often times, critics have commended Over The Rhine for their ability to connect with the crowd during concerts.
