Oh No! Oh My! began singing at Cafeteria, a local bar. The lead singer used to listen to radio constantly as a kid. The guitarist wanted to start a group since he was in college. Oh No! Oh My!’s members met in 1977. The band was influenced by Aretha Franklin.

Oh No! Oh My! were still not sure if they would make it after getting a record. They had heard too many stories and knew that they were in no position to expect anything. The group played for years atsmall clubs making almost no money.
Oh No! Oh My! accepted that they were real working musicians when the group’s first fan club was started in 1982 by Mary Ellenwood.
