But, by 1993 the group metamorphosed into "Nada Surf." With this new name and enthusiasm she issued their first single. It was good enough to impress many and they instantly got an offer and eventually signed up by a European label. With this new label the band went on to record an LP; but also suffered a loss as original drummer left the band. Soon the place was filled by ex-Fuzztone Ira Elliot. The band was on a rise with their new release but also had an upset when their European deal couldn't materialize.

Luckily, a demo copy of their very well recorded album reached Ric Ocasek and he heartily agreed to produce the album. Soon they were signed by Elektra, consequently the band went on to record their second full-length release, "The Proximity Effect," which was released in 1998, but couldn't receive a positive response. All these disappointments couldn't stop the band to release their album, "Let Go" in 2002. This album was later reissued with some added tracks in 2003 on the Barsuk label.

This tremendous band has been in the music world for more than a decade. Though, they went thorough many ups and downs. In 1995, the band came up with their debut album "High/Low." This release acclaimed as a huge hit and a track from the album produced a hugely popular MTV track. After this the band embarked on an exhaustive tour.
