Daniel Lawrence Whitney is well known by the stage name Larry the Cable Guy. He was born on February 17, 1963 in Pawnee City, Nebraska. He has achieved great popularity as a stand up comedian, actor, and one of the leads of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour and the following series Blue Collar TV. He acted in the feature-length movie Larry the Cable Guy. And currently stars along with close friend Bill Engvall in the movie Delta Farce.
Whitney started working in1985, as a stand-up comedian with West Palm Beach locals like buddy Jamie Porter. Subsequently in 1991, he started doing radio comedy, where he would call into stations as fancy characters. The "Larry" character was produced after a colleague from one of the stations asked him to call in as a cable installer.
Whitney began his career in radio as a disc-jockey in Blue Springs, Missouri. This was followed by stretches at Rock 100 WDIZ and 101.1 WJRR in Orlando. After working for a while he met the Blue Collar Boys. In the early 90s, he became very popular in the South when he gave regular radio appearances via phone on shows such as the Ron and Ron Show. He was also heard on shows such as, Z-92's The Todd and Tyler Show in Omaha, Nebraska, on the nationally formed Chris Baker Show as well as the Kirk, Mark, and Lopez morning show on 98 Rock in Baltimore, MD. He was also gave often visits on the Johnny Dare and Murphy show on 98.9, KQRC, Kansas City.
His career also includes of some hit Christmas songs like "Donny the Retard", "Titty Bars Christmas", and "I Pissed My Pants". His "Madder than" analogies are famous throughout. In 2005, he appeared in Gretchen Wilson's music video for the hit song "All Jacked Up," playing double roles as himself and a transvestite bar patron. In 2006, he performed in the film Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector, voiced for Mater, the tow truck, Pixar's Academy Award-nominated animated film. Whitney has also achieved great success from his comedic recordings. Lord, I Apologize released in 2001, and The Right To Bare Arms in 2005, both have been certified gold by the RIAA, his first two comedy albums.
Recently he has also been approached by Comedy Central to voice a fictional character for an as-yet-unnamed animated serial publication. The show would engage his character as one of two proprietors of a small cable channel, who butt heads at the form of programming they feel perfect for air. Although he has a Southern accent, Whitney does not belong to the south. Larry the Cable Guy uses phrase humor, including "Git-R-Done", which is the most popular as well as "Lord, I apologize"or "I don't care who you are, that's funny right there!" after particularly flagrant gags.
