Kid Rock is the pseudonym under which Robert James Ritchie performs on stage. This American actor and musician was born in Michigan on 17th January 1971. He began playing with a boy band called The Furious Funkers when he was 11. The success of bands like The Beastie and Run DMC encouraged him to take up a career in music. He bought a gramophone and polished his music. He performed with Bo Wisdom and assumed the name Kid Rock as the audience would refer to him as the white kid who rocked. He was already gaining visibility due his outstanding rap and work as a DJ and he was signed to perform with The Beast Crew. He had also befriended Boogie Down Productions’ D-Nice. It was D-Nice who was instrumental in Kid’s signing of a Demo Deal with A&R with Jive Records. He was merely seventeen then. He later participated in Straight from the Underground Tour where he rapped with Yo-Yo, Too Short, D-Nice and Ice Cube.

His first album Grits Sandwiches For Breakfast, which released in 1990, had turned him into a star overnight after having sold over 22 million copies. His second album called The Polyfuze Method had released in 1992 followed by Fire It Up in 1994. Contiuum Records which had released his album failed to adequately promote the album and resulted in poor sale and heavy loss. This prompted Kid Rock in creating his own label called Top Dogs Records in 1994 and he released his album “Early Morning Stoned Pimp” in 1996 under it. He also used to release demo tapes every month called The Bootleg series. His album Devil without a Cause released in 1998 and manage4d to sell more than 11 million copies. It had some of his biggest hits like “Only God Knows Why”, “Bawitdawa”, “I Am A Bulldog” and “Cowboy”. He had released “Somebody’s Gotta Feel This” and “ I Got One For Ya” with Atlantic Records as demo tapes that sold were so impressive that Kid Rock Signed a massive deal them. This was followed by History of Rocks (2000). The most popular song in this album was called “American Bad Ass”. The Cook Twins, Curt Hauer and Dave laong were recruited as the Top Dog Interns who helped him in endorsing his band, his music and its related products.
He had hit the headlines for his relationship with Pamela Anderson. In the album Cocky, which released in 2001, he had roped in Sheryl Crow for the track “picture”. This earned him his biggest hit worldwide. He had released a self-titled album in 2003 followed by The album “Live Trucker” in 2006. 2006 also Kid Rock’s controversial marriage with and subsequent divorce from Pamela Anderson.
He rejuvenated his career with Rock and Roll Jesus in 2007. It was his first album that topped the US Billboards owing to breath-taking hits like “All Summer Long”, “So Hott” and “Amen”. Kid Rock will collaborate with Rev Run of Run DMC for a future album. The band currently includes guitarist Marlon Young, and Jason Krause, keyboardist Jimmy Trombly, drummer and percussionist Stefanie Eulinberg and Larry Fratangelo, bass guitarist Aaron Julison, vocalist Paradime: Turntables, Barbera Payton and Stacy Plunk, Jessica Wagner
