Jarrett was brought up in a family which has strong connection with music. His musical talent was traced in the early stage of his childhood. After the completion of his graduation, he ventured to New York to join in a reputed band “Village Vanguard Club”. This was the turning point of his long musical career. Blakey gave him a chance to perform in the jazz musical band “Charles Lloyd Quartet”. He contributed in this band’s famous album “Forest Flower” which was released in the year 1966.

After leaving the band “Charles Lloyd Quartet”, he came in contact with Miles Davis. He started furthering his musical career in Davis’s band. Here in this band, he used to play piano and Fender Contempo electronic organ simultaneously. After joining Davis’s band, Davis released some famous albums. Live-Evil, Directions, The Cellar Door Sessions and Get Up With It are some of the famous albums where one can trace out the unique contribution of Jarrett. As a solo pianist the glory of Jarrett will never diminish. His first solo album was released in the year 1971 under the title “Facing You”. This solo album helped him to consolidate his position in the music industry. He got accolades from various sources. Inspired by the success of this album he released some more solo albums within a brief span of time. “Book of Ways”, “The Melody At Night, With You”, “Staircase” and “The Moth and the Flame” are some of the famous solo albums. After solidifying his position in the market, he started paying some famous solo concerts. Among them, “The Köln Concert” is regarded as one of the best selling solo albums.
