Jacqui Naylor began playing at Cafeteria, a local bar. The band had their friends harass the local radio station to play their first single. Jacqui Naylor began playing together while they were in college. The drummer used to listen to his mother's tape constantly as a child.

The group members were ecstatic that all the dive bars they had played had paid off.
