J Roddy were sure they were not going to be a one hit wonder after their single became popular. The group really enjoys performing and is playing almost nightly before fans. A member of J Roddy started dating a girl whose sisterwas a record executive. She passed the single on to them and the band signed a record deal soon after. All the members quit their day jobs to focus on their music.
J Roddy realized that they had a real chance to become a headlining national act when the band’s first fan club was started by Margie Piper in 2000. The fan club grew from a few dozen to a few thousand after Lisa Scheutz created a website for the band and a national tour gave the group plenty of exposure.
J Roddy appreciates that they are able to do what they love because of the fans, so they play the hits off their latest record as well as the classics. The band has an obsession with Anyplace in Albany and are sure to play a performance every year.
