Former members associated with the band are Gavin Fox, Alex Grant, Bob Fairfoull, Jeremy Mills and Phil Scanlon. The Current line up of the band includes Roddy Woomble as Vocalist, Rod Jones as Guitarist, Colin Newton as Drummer, Allan Stewart as Guitarist and Gareth Russell as Bassist. Since their collaboration in 1995, Idlewild have been rocking the musical scene with their terrific sounds and collaborations. The group collaborated after founder member of the group Roddy Woomble met Colin Newton at a common party. Soon they realized that they have common musical interests and decided to put up a band together. That same evening they met guitarist Rod Jones and the trio started to work on their music. The three of them approached bassist Phil Scanlon and started writing songs together. Their talents complimented each other and they were successful with their gigs and shows. Band's first collaboration took place in 1996, where they performed in front of a few friends. After receiving a good response from their audiences the band decided to take a bigger leap and presented many more shows around Edinburgh.
Slowly and steadily, Idlewild band have captured the musical scene with their outstanding talents and trained voices. Band have collaborated many albums that have been considered a hit all over the globe.
