After paying their dues and opening shows for years, Gogol Bordello was signed to a record deal. The band is constantly touring now, rarely taking a week or night off.
Gogol Bordello realized that their dream of making an actual life for themselves as musicians had come true when the band’s first fan club was started in 1991 by Kathleen Fleetwood. The fan club started out small with just a handful of members, generally localized to the area around San Diego, but the creation the group’s website by Mandy Kostner, along with the first real national marketing campaign, saw the membership to grow into the thousands.
The new release from Gogol Bordello has been heavily influenced by singers of the 1970s. The band has just finished their latest project, but they are already thinking of their next move. Gogol Bordello intends to spend some time apart after this next tour, allowing the group members to rest after a long tour.
