Ghostface Killah was brought up in the heart of Staten Island, New York. He is a very well-renowned member of Wu-Tang Clan, the popular hip-hop favorite. His songs reflect the circumstances that he has gone throughout his childhood. Presently he is the father of four children and one of his sons appeared in the video for "All I Got Is You", where he played Ghostface as a child.
Ghostface Killah was born Dennis Coles on May 9, 1970 in Staten Island, New York. His name is adopted from the primary villain of the film Ninja Checkmate. Ghostface's band Wu-Tang achieved commercial success in the early 1990s. Subsequently Ghostface like his band mates started a solo career, which proved to be one of the most successful and commercially prosperous solo careers of the band members. Initially he would wear a mask while performing and photoshoots.
Ghostface Killah debuted for the opening act of the of "Bring da Ruckus", which was the lead track from the Wu-Tang Clan's critically heralded debut, 1993's Enter the Wu-Tang. Ghostface is constantly achieving storming commercial success. In 1995, Ghostface performed a substantial role on Racoon's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx. And also bestowed songs to the soundtracks of Sunset Park and Don't Be A Menace To South Central While Drinking Your Juice In The Hood. His debut solo LP was Ironman released in 1996. This was a favorite in hip hop circles and debuted at #2 on the pop charts. This hit had more soul influences than former Wu-Tang solo releases, and Ghostface's also applied this stylistic trait to his future albums.
Ghostface has achieved immense popularity for both his uptempo, seemingly unreadable stream-of-consciousness raps and, more recently in his career, for his emotionally loaded speech. His success with Ironman was followed by Supreme Clientele in 2000. This follow up was a favorite, acclaimed by both mainstream critics and hip hop fans.
Recently in 2004, The Pretty Toney Album was produced on Def Jam. This hit presented collaborations with Missy Elliott and Jadakiss. "Tush" and "Run", these two singles extracted from The Pretty Toney Album, attained huge success in the clubs as well as charts. The album was declared as the 9th Best Album of the Year on Pitchfork Media's end of the year list. Ghostface was also seen in the song "On My Knees" by UK R&B group. Put It On The Line also achieved moderate success which was a joint effort along with Trife Da God.
Ghostface's 2006 album Fishscale was released under his original moniker "Ghostface Killah". MF DOOM also produced many songs for this album. The album ranked on top, in the #4 position on the US Billboard 200 and at #2 on the R&B Charts. Ghostface also ventured on a confined-date tour of U.S. locations in support of the album. He also presented numerous performances of his concerts along with most members of the Wu-Tang Clan.
